Under Construction

I thought this was appropriate since I am doing a lot of updating this month.

When I first designed Rocky Rex, he was green. Because when I was a kid all the dinosaurs were green. My boss took particular glee in telling me that dinosaurs were, in fact, pretty brightly colored - like birds. And that makes sense because, he said, dinosaurs are now believed to be related to birds.

After nailing the colors, the hardest part of this illustration was figuring out how a T. rex would hold a broom. Because, not only are T. rexs all bright and colorful, they also only have two fingers per tiny hand.
